If you’ve made it to my About page, thank you so much for being here. What I hope you take away from this campaign is that it’s not about me, it’s about listening to working people and making things better for you.
There are many candidates in this race who will raise more money, will say they have more experience, and will feel entitled to be your representative. But here’s what’s different about this campaign: It’s actually about you. No matter who your representative is, you deserve a fair deal from them.
With Gratitude,
Anna was born and raised in the middle class suburban town of South Plainfield, New Jersey. She grew up in a Vietnamese-Italian American home, where there was always plenty of good food and love. Anna’s parents are normal people - her mom, Thao, has worked at Rutgers University for over 25 years and her dad, John, is a welder at a chemical factory.
Her parents worked hard, paid their taxes, and did everything they could to build a good life. But like many working families, there was always the financial insecurity of what if - what if one of them got laid off, what if there was an accident at work, what if the company decided to close the factory.
These what-ifs speak to the realities that normal people worry about: How would they pay their mortgage, how would they go to the doctor, how would they feed two kids. Like many normal people, Anna’s parents never asked for help and never received support from the government, but it shouldn’t have been so hard for them.
As Anna got older, she thought about the experience of her parents. How they’ve done everything right and yet, are still worried about if they can pay for an unexpected emergency, retire at a reasonable age, and live a good life. Anna went on to study political science and anthropology at Rutgers University. She was the first person in her family to earn a college degree and graduated at the top of her class. As Anna continued to meet people along the way, she noticed an important theme: normal people share the same concerns; we all just want to live healthy, safe, and happy lives.
Anna's work over the last 10 years shows that she listens and fights for you. She spent the last decade in the nonprofit and private sectors bringing people together around causes that matter to them. On the nonprofit side, Anna worked with organizations like Make the Road NJ and Vietnamese Boat People to help immigrants understand their rights and build a community that honors the stories of the Vietnamese diaspora. Within the private sector, she has worked at different companies to manage their Social Impact programs and bring employees together to support causes like children's access to education, training for small business owners, and mentorship for young professionals.
Outside of her day job, Anna cares about showing up in her community too. She’s volunteered with organizations like Girls in Gear to support building up girls’ confidence through biking, and at the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County. Anna and her partner, Gabe, are proud to call Morristown, New Jersey their home. Anna wants New Jersey to be a place where you can afford to stay and live a good life.
Anna is running for Congress to represent people like you who have worked hard their entire lives, paid their taxes, and have shown up for their community at every turn.
So, join our movement for a fair deal — because when you’ve done everything right, your government should be fighting to make life easier for you, not harder.
